Serving is something I’ve always had an inner struggle with. I used to make excuse after excuse on why to avoid serving in the church, and recently realized all of those excuses shared a common theme. They were because my faith was centered on humans or the church, and not on God.
The most common definition of the word serve is in the verb form and means, to perform duties or services for. The important piece of the verb form of serve is the missing noun. Who or what are we serving? It is important for our hearts to be pointed to service to God. Yes, you may be performing a service in a physical form for the church, but is your heart serving God during that time?
This is my challenge to myself, that I may continue to ensure I have my heart, mind, and spirit pointed in a service to God and let all things flow from that.
Have a blessed Saturday!
