He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him will I trust.” – Psalm 91:1-2
Where does our heart go in times of weary, trouble or fear? In the past, my heart has gone to rely on myself in various ways whether it was just attempting to work through a difficulty on my own accord, or out of fear lying my way through sins, and always compounding the sin and the difficulty. One thing I love about the book of Psalm is how so often turned to God in times of trouble. What a beautiful example for us.
As men, we (myself included) must go to God first and foremost in all adversities. The truth is, we will go through various trials, tests, and discomforts even after giving our lives to God. We are not exempt from the pains of a sinful world. However, we have peace in and through Christ who sustains and protects us. Let us always seek Him in the valleys just as much as we do on the mountain tops!
