The Hearts of Children

“For you shall go out with joy, and be led out with peace; the mountains and the hills shall break forth into singing before you, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.” – Isaiah 55:12

My wife and I both work full time. It’s a busy schedule with four kids! Thankfully, we’ve worked out our schedule so that it is fairly normal and routine, well as routine as possible. On Thursdays and Fridays, I drive all the kids to school before getting to the office. Lately, I’ve been playing a mix of new and old worship music as we drive and wait in line. About 15 minutes ago, as we waited in line for my daughter to be able to walk into the school I listened intently because I could hear my six year old son singing along to the music.

“Holy, Holy, Holy Lord. God of heaven and earth…” I know he doesn’t fully grasp the weight of the lyrics yet, but it’s such a beautiful sound to my spirit. Knowing that before school is mind is being filled with words of God before a day with his teachers and friends.

Dear Jesus, please continue to bless my children. Allow them to know Your heart, and what you want for them. Let them see Your love through me on a daily basis, and let their songs be a blessing to Your ears. keep them safe in school, out in public and at home. Keep their eyes and hearts on You as they go through their days and years ahead. Help me, as a father, and fill my shortcomings with Your glory so they become great men and a woman who seek You. Thank you Lord. Amen!
