All Scripture is inspired by God and beneficial for teaching, for rebuke, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man or woman of God may be fully capable, equipped for every good work. – 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Every last bit of it. Not “most of it”. Not “some of it. All Scripture!

A great aspect of this verse is that it tells us why. So that we (men and women) may be fully capable, and so we can be equipped for every good work.

Fully capable. How often do we truly feel capable to do anything? When I started my job, even after going through basic training I didn’t feel fully capable. I felt like there’s still so much to know, understand, practice. That is exactly why God gave us scripture. So we can know Him more, understand Him more, and practice our faith in Him out loud and in action. Equipped is another interesting word used there. When I think of equipment, I think of things I NEED to accomplish a task and things I need to stay safe. the scripture (Word of God) is exactly that. We need His teaching to successfully maintain relationship with him, to train others and leave legacy through Him. Finally, let’s be honest. We live in a broken and sinful world. A world filled with selfish desires of power, greed, and downright evil. We may not always be able to avoid pain and destruction, but God promises those who believe in Him eternal safety.
