Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me.” – Isaiah 6:8
Many times in the Old Testament we see examples of men being used as messengers of the Lord. I chose this particular verse today for two reasons.
1. It’s a reminder that we should be open to and inviting God to send us and use us. It doesn’t mean he needs us though. God can just as easily use someone or something else in our place. If we aren’t open to being used by God though, our minds and heart need an adjustment and calibration back to Christ.
2. I absolutely love reading examples in the Old Testament of God actively speaking and mentioning the plurality (Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit) of God. It is specifically referenced in this passage, “…and who will go for Us?” Isaiah was receiving this word of God, and I have to believe he received it knowing the presence of JESUS and the SPIRIT being there, as they have been since the beginning of time.
