My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. – Psalm 73:26
In this life, sometimes things will be difficult, and sometimes we will fail to meet the standard of righteousness. Our soul is in constant chase of ultimate relationship with God, but sometimes our flesh sees the fruits of the moment, and our minds get twisted into thinking that’s the better option.
How do we react when we fail? Do we confess our wrongs? Do we hide them? When we know we are struggling do we reach out to our Christian friends and request prayer and/or forgiveness? Hiding them and lying about them was always my go to. I despise it, and that’s what God has really been working on fixing in me, with the help of my wife and close Christian friends.
The Bible is full of failures. The men who wrote the Gospels even described theirs, even as they physically walked with Jesus. Their hearts though, centered on God and give us many examples of the failures of men, the gracious salvation through Jesus, and the glory of God through it all.
I have no reason to fear, and neither do you who believe in Jesus. God loves us despite our imperfections and He desires our hearts to be drawn to Him!
