Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and sustain with me a willing spirit. – Psalm 51:12
I’m beginning a personal study on joy, what it is, why it is important, and how to dwell in the joy of the Lord.
To me, this verse is a great starting point, because it serves as a reminder. A reminder of the incredible passion God implants in our soul when we are united with Him. it makes me think back to the day that I know my life changed forever to be a child of God. It causes me to recollect on the moment of my baptism.
Joy stirs hope. Joy encourages and displays passion. Joy spurns us into relationship.
I encourage everyone when you read this verse to remember the moment of the joy you had knowing your salvation in Christ, and what that created inside of you. For me, that joy drives change. I hope that when you remember and embrace the joy of your salvation, that it renews your desire to conform to the will and love of God.
