Daily Scripture (7/13/2022)

Let no unwholesome word come out of your mouth, but if there is any good word for edification according to the need of the moment, say that, so that it will give grace to those who hear. – Ephesians 4:29

I’m going to be honest. I struggle with this. There are a lot of days where I fall disgustingly short of the righteousness of God because of the words coming out of my mouth, or thought.

Struggling doesn’t make me want to stop striving to get to a place of daily thinking and saying only wholesome things.

My daily goal is to seek the heart of God, there is nothing greater to strive for! I know that if I’m seeking God’s heart that my heart is in a right and holy place. Jesus said, “But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and those things defile the person.” (Matthew 15:18) I don’t want my words to defile me! I would much rather my words be a reflection of my desire for more of Jesus and what He’s done for me!

Lord, I come to you today because I love you and You alone are holy and worthy of my desires, passions, worship, and thankfulness. You choose to give me another day to glorify and honor you. Keep my heart, my mind, and my words focused on you that I might be an example of your righteousness to those around me. Lord, I pray for all my friends here that are reading this blog that you bless them today, and that they be a blessing to those they come in contact with. You are a great God, who chooses to love us and extend grace to us when we fall well short of expectations, and we thank you for that. Help us to remember that and extend grace and love to those around us. Amen!
