My soul, wait in silence for God alone, For my hope is from Him. – Psalm 62:5
The last couple days I’ve been thinking about what my life focus should be, especially in how I interact with others, and as I’ve been growing my discipleship to Jesus a phrase has been continually on my mind.
Give others hope.
I’ve been lucky in that I’m surrounded now by a lot of good men who have poured into me. They’ve poured love, vision, correction, grace, and hope. As I sit with them, listen to them, see their actions, read their texts and emails I’ve been guided in the ways of the Lord through them, and I’ve received hope for my own future.
As we grow in our faith, we )including myself must not always be in a posture to receive. We need to pour out. There are so many around us everyday without hope. Whether it’s a temporary/situational or long term, a lack of hope leads to desperation and often to destruction. Our goal should always be sharing the hope given to us from God. That is where we see healing, love, families thriving, marriages succeeding, and the kingdom of God growing.
Jesus, thank you so much for what you’ve done in my life. Thank You for giving me hope in Your name, and the knowledge of my salvation thanks to Your sacrifice. Lord, help us to share grace and mercy to those around us. Help us to be the beacons of hope that you desire in all of us. Help us to be Your love, even when it’s difficult. Give us the words to speak to others, but also give us the ears to hear our families, friends, coworkers… to truly listen to them and hear their hearts. Make our words seasoned with salt, and our actions guided by You, Holy Spirit. We praise your great name! Amen!
