“My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples.” – John 15:8
Our strongest desire in life here on earth and for eternity should be to glorify God. Bearing fruit of His presence in our lives, the decisions we make, the way we speak, and our relationships with each other all should bear witness to Him.
I love the end of this verse because it’s a simple challenge. Prove ourselves. Prove ourselves to be doers of the word! (James 1:22… another challenge!)
My church is currently going through a series called “Get Off The Bench”. It’s cool that this verse coincides with that challenge to live out our faith in practical ways. It’s not enough to just attend a service once a week for a couple hours and then go about our weeks without the presence of God. There is no filling our soul with the desires and joys of God at that rate. It’s not healthy. My pastor, Justin, gave a great analogy about how unhealthy someone would be if they were only fed once a week!
Don’t let your soul and relationship with God be malnourished!
